lyrics
I'm gonna miss you when you go
I sure am gonna miss you when you go
I'm gonna miss you when you go, in that cold rain and snow
I'm gonna to miss you when you go
I was born to love you baby but you stayed away too long
I was born to love you baby but you stayed away too long
You stayed away too long, in the morning I'll be gone
Born to love you baby but you stayed away too long
Don't give your love to a highway man
Mama said, "Don't give your love to a highway man"
Because a lonely highway man, will get his lovin' where he can
Don't fall in love with a highway man
I'm going out a'drifting like a ship out on the sea
I'm going out a'drifting like a ship out the sea
I'm like a ship out on the sea, gone as far as the eye can see
I'm going out a'drifting like a ship out of the city
Baby when you go, you know I'm going to wish you well
Baby when you go, you know I'm going to wish you well
You know I'll wish you well, you've done your best as far as I can tell
Baby when you go, you know I'm going to wish you well
Sure am going to miss you when I go away
I sure am going to miss you when I go away
When you go away, you'll be going away to stay
That's why I'm going to miss you, going to miss you when you go away
Fare thee well my true love
I hope you find everything you're looking for out there
You know I'll miss you

The best I've heard from Steve Earle in a while. The songs have a subtler, earthier tone, tastefully rendered in authentic sounding country/blues/bluegrass stylings. 'J.T' reminds of earlier records like 'Feel Alright' or 'Train a Comin'.
Deep grief, love and compassion is felt on the final track, the only composition from Steve, seemingly written for his son. The rest, composed by JT, do confirm what a great songwriter he really was. tideracer
Cerebral palsy curbed his ability to play guitar the conventional way, so Nagoda learned double slide, this is his debut LP.
